Here is a little update on where you can see my work this month!
I arrived in Malta in March of 2021, and so I'm pleased to say that I have a couple exhibitions to show for all the hard work.
Malta Society of Arts
On August 17th, the Malta Society of Arts opened the doors on a collective exhibition. The title of the exhibition is called, The Archive: Memories & Recollections – MSA Members’ Exhibition 2023 I have been attending monthly meetings to speak about ideas and push past my comfort zone to create a piece of artwork that suited the theme.
What I came up with is an original abstract based on the synapses that occur in the brain when recalling and making memories. I incorporated strands of light to visualise when these parts of the brain light up during this process.
The exhibition is ongoing until the 8th of September where you can find a code to scan next to my artwork. There, you'll see a video and read the story behind the piece. If you visit, please feel free to take a picture and tag me @jdemersart
Rinaxximent Tattoo Parlour
I had the pleasure of being kindly recommended by another artist to contact the artists at Rinaxximent Tattoo Parlour. Thankfully, they enjoyed the artwork that I had to offer!
On the 29th of September we're organising an opening exhibition showing 8 pieces along with a group of other artists. On display will be a mixture of original artwork as well as limited edition embellished prints. Embellished means that every prints is hand-finished by me. Depending on the artwork, for example, I could paint gold ink onto the work or carefully apply shimmering mica pigments that can't be achieved by simply printing them. In this way, every piece is unique.
The opening exhibition starts on the 29th of September and goes until the 5th of October, so if you're unable to make the opening and you'd like a personal tour, please send me a message so we can organise it.
