A recap of 2023 events & how to plan for 2024
This January 13th, I'll be turning 35 and A LOT has happened since turning 34. Of course, this is a great time to reflect and be proud of the work that's been done, and gain a better persepective on how to move forward. Let's take a look at what happened in 2023, and what is planned for 2024.
Proud Moments
When I'm in the middle of a year working on the details, it can be difficult to see that I'm reaching a destination at all. This is why I think it's so important to keep a planner/journal to assess progress. It helps to make sure that I'm not deviating from the goal and to also allow myself to be proud of the achievements. Here is a small list of what I considered to be some major stepping stones in 2023:
Sold my largest PRINT to date
23 complete artworks in 12 months
Made my first art film in collaboration with @ruccya
Participated in an intensive art business course with C.A.S.E. Malta in collaboration with Arts Council Malta and received an award to go towards my first art residency.
Participated in 3 group exhibitions (see posters above)
What's to Come
Since June I have been applying to art residencies and have received many rejection letters for my efforts. However, I keep all of them as a reminder that a rejection is also an achievement because I put myself out there. At the end of the day, each one brings me one step closer to an acceptance. The good news is that I was finally accepted for an art residency at the Bored Peach Club in Gozo, Malta! I cannot wait to share the process and experience with you this year.
Another large announcement is that I am booked for my first solo exhibition for April 2024 at Date Art Cafe in Cospicua! I have been working hard to make an inspiring collection of scultptures, paintings, drawings and short films to share with you. I've had exhibitions with at least one other person in my exhibiting career, because there is a lot of pressure and preparation that goes into making a successful show. Now, I know I'm ready to create something wonderful by myself, and I hope to see you there for the big moment!
Let's Plan 2024!
I attribute a lot of my self-organisation to structured planning and weekly check-ins, and I want to be able to share that with you. I'd like to give you access to the same framework I use to plan my year, week-by-week for FREE. Just click below to subscribe to my monthly newsletter and receive access to what I've been using as an organised art entrepreneur.
Let me know what you're proud of this year, and share this planner with a friend who might benefit from a little help with writing down their goals. Best of luck in 2024!
